Geography
Within our geography curriculum we equip our pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. In doing so, we aim to inspire our children, making them curious about the world in which they live and its people. This fascination should last them for the rest of the lives.
As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between the physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped and interconnected, changing over time.
Much of our geography curriculum is taught through themes throughout the year, often linking to high quality texts used in our English lessons.
We use our local environment where possible, to enable our pupils to develop a passion and appreciation for their local area, in which they can become responsible future citizens.
