Year 5

The Class Teachers for Year 5 are Mrs Puplett (5P) and Mrs Griffin (5G)

Hello, I'm Mrs Puplett and I teach in Year Five. I've been teaching at St Matthew's for thirteen years and it's a lovely place to work. English is my favourite subject and I lead it throughout the school. I believe that reading is the most important skill of all, and here at St Matthew’s, we do everything we can to promote it. You will see children reading and sharing books everywhere! We are also really proud of our Writers’ Walls that are in every classroom-full of fantastic children’s writing. Come in and see.

Hello, I'm Mrs Griffin.  I have been teaching at St. Matthew's for nearly three years in many different roles.  This year I am looking forward to teaching in Year 5 alongside Mrs Puplett.  Music is my favourite subject having trained as a classical musician.  There are many opportunities to take part in musical activities at St. Matthew's and to learn a musical instrument such as the recorder in Year 2 and the clarinet in Year 4.  The choir sings throughout the year in local concerts, at Dorking Halls and Southwark Cathedral and the whole of Key Stage 2 come together to perform our end of year production in July.  Last year we presented a highly acclaimed 'Mary Poppins'!  I hope that you will take the chance to join us in one of these activities.

Hello, I'm Mrs Shuttleworth and I'm currently working in Year 5 as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. I enjoy PE and when I'm not at school I keep fit by swimming, playing netball and going on country walks. To relax I enjoy sitting in my garden.

Hello, I'm Mrs Franklin. I have worked as a T.A in Years 2, 5, 6, and Sun Class for the past 5 years. I also help to run Breakfast Club. In my spare time I like to grow vegetables on my allotment.
