Pupil Premium Report

The Pupil Premium is an amount of money allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been continuously in care for more than six months. From 2012-13 onwards this also includes pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure)

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we will be held accountable for how we used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. We are also required to publish online information about how we use this money. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment on pupils covered by the Pupil Premium and the extra support that they receive.

At St Matthew’s we use a wide range of strategies to support children and families.

Sport Premium Report

The Sports Premium is an amount of money allocated to schools to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

At St Matthew’s we will be using the money to focus on three key areas:

  • Procuring quality-assured professional training for staff to raise their confidence and competence in teaching PE and sport
  • Increased participation and enjoyment of PE for all pupils during lessons and extra–curricular opportunities
  • Subsidising the cost of swimming to enable Children in Years 3,4,5 and 6  to attend weekly swimming lessons to ensure as many children as possible are able to swim by the end of Year 6.
