Year 6 Make Fruit Cocktails in Maths!

A maths lesson with a difference - instead of working with their text books Year 6 used their measuring jugs to make fruit juice cocktails to revise their measures before sitting their SATS next week.  Different juices were mixed in wonderful concoctions to the delight of Mrs Rusling’s maths group on Tuesday.  The main focus of the lesson was to measure with accuracy, later they calculated the ratio of the mix.  The following day the children had to work out the proportions of the different juices for larger quantities of children using different scenarios.  Some of the juices were not as well received as others – beetroot was certainly given the thumbs down.  At the end of the lesson one child commented “that lesson was awesome!”
