Year 2 visit to Bay Pond Nature Reserve, Godstone

As part of Year 2's Science topic of Minibeasts, we visited Bay Pond Nature Reserve in Godstone. The children enjoyed various activities including a minibeast hunt, pollination games, stories, as well as the year group's favourite activity; pond dipping! All of the children enjoyed identifying what they had caught. Catches of the day included: tadpoles, blood worms, water boatman, damsefly and stickleback. It was fascinating to see what each of these looked like under the video microscope. Pupil comments included "I love this, when can we come again?" and "This has been the best trip ever!" We were very proud of the children's thoughtful questions at the end of the day. Thank you to all the parents who helped us on this trip; we couldn't do it without you!
