Year 2 plant sunflowers

At St Matthew's school, we are incredibly lucky to have our own school garden. In the past few weeks, Year 2 have been busy planting sunflower seeds. The children have enjoyed being outside in the garden, gaining a hands-on experience in science. We are looking forward to measuring our sunflowers as they continue to grow and of course, we cannot wait to see whose sunflower grows the tallest!

Year 2 are not the only class growing sunflowers this year: all the classes have been tasked with planting their own sunflower seeds to see which will grow the tallest. We think that the green-fingered pupils of gardening club will have a few tricks up their sleeves to keep plants going skywards throughout the summer term.
