World Book Day 2016

What a great day we have had with children and teachers coming to school dressed as their favourite book characters! Thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to put together some amazing and creative costumes. The children were keen and able to talk confidently about their character, the book and the author. Reading is given a very high priority here at St Matthew’s School; our children love books! Our exciting learning activities during the day included enjoying reading stories with children from other classes and visiting Waterstones to “spend” our World Book Day vouchers. Class 5P spent the afternoon at Reigate Grammar School, enjoying a wonderful creative writing workshop; this activity formed part of the prize won by Ella in 5P for her poem submitted to RGS local schools writing competition.

Although World Book Day is over for another year, reading and enjoying fiction and non-fiction books doesn't stop! As well as enjoying reading and writing at home and at school we always encourage our children, and parents too, to visit Redhill library to benefit from their wonderful range of books and reading-related activities.
