Reception pupils use Story Sacks

Reception pupils really enjoy listening to stories. One of their favourite activities is to share a story sack where the children find the characters in the bag and re-tell the story. Over the last few weeks, pupils have been taking it in turns to re-tell popular stories, sometimes adding their own characters, sometimes adding their own ending.

Learning to re-tell stories is a very good way to help children remember the different parts of a story, the language used in stories, as well as giving them the vocabulary to support them when they start to write their own stories.
