Reading Recovery School of the Year 2016

We are delighted that St Matthew's CE Primary School has won a prestigious national award. The Reading Recovery School of the Year award recognises the high quality teaching of reading and associated literacy skills. The citation  praised the school's active promotion of the enjoyment of reading for all pupils. Our Buddy Readers programme, Chunky Readers and Chatterbooks groups with Redhill Library, as well as daily individual reading support for specific children were all recognised as examples of excellent practice, benefiting pupils' attainment in reading.

Mrs Kelsey (Reading Recovery Specialist Teacher) and Mrs Lightfoot (Headteacher) proudly received the award on behalf of the school at a special ceremony at UCL Institute of Education in London.
