Inspired to be an author!

Children and adults at St Matthew’s School love going to Redhill Library. Tina and her colleagues always make us feel so welcome!

Children from Years 3, 4 and 5 enjoyed our most recent visit to the library, meeting the new, awe-inspiring, children's author, Abi Elphinstone. The children had a fantastic time listening to Abi.  They were thoroughly engaged by her enthusiasm and motivational story telling.  She captured their attention by showing artefacts and representations of objects from within her two books and explaining how and where she got the ideas for her stories and characters. This was a fantastic morning for all our children to be inspired by such an incredible young, new writer.  It was very thought provoking and many children were touched and encouraged by her words.

One child said, "Maybe I can fulfil my dream. As Abi said, all you need is an idea and then it spirals from there!"

Another said, "I couldn't believe that all her ideas, characters, settings and the adventures came from places Abi had been to."

The staff from the library commented on how well the children behaved and contributed to the session with relevant questions and comments. We also received messages from members of the public who were in the library, praising the children behaviour and courtesy and knowledge of books.
