Green-fingered Gardeners

This week the children in gardening club have been harvesting potatoes and broad beans.  Despite the lack of sunshine in recent weeks, there was a bumper crop of potatoes which they took home to mash, roast, boil or chip!

The children were amazed how difficult it was to find the potatoes but they enjoyed digging around in the soil.

Earlier in the spring term the children planted broad beans and now that they have flowered, it was time to pick them.

St Matthew's green-fingered gardeners are now looking forward to digging up the garlic and the beetroot crop and then enjoying eating the fruits of their labour!
