Bishop of Southwark's Lent Call Service

Forty one children from St Matthew's School had a great day up in London today where the choir had been especially invited to lead the singing and perform at the Bishop of Southwark's Lent Call Thanksgiving Service at Southwark Cathedral.

The standard of the children's singing was very high and much appreciated by all in the congregation. In addition, representatives from each class in our school presented to the Bishop of Southwark the money raised during our Lent Appeal week: this money will support worthy projects in the Diocese of Southwark and overseas.

After the service the children enjoyed a walk along the South Bank of the River Thames, seeing and learning about famous London landmarks including St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The Globe Theatre and The Monument. It was remarked by all who accompanied the pupils that throughout the day, their attitude and behaviour was impeccable.

Many thanks to all the parents that accompanied the pupils on the train to and from London, and gave support to the pupils throughout the day.
