Berkeley Ensemble

Year 6 enjoyed a visit from the Berkeley Ensemble on Tuesday 14th January, a group of professional musicians who work with schools to bring music alive.  They looked at some of their instruments with the children before beginning a workshop that involved all the children.  Both classes had been given two pieces of music to familiarise themselves with prior to the vist – the theme tune to “Indiana Jones” and La Rejouissance by George Frederic Handel.  During the workshop the children used percussion instruments to play alongside the professional musicians.  At the end of the morning they performed in a short concert with the Year 5 classes as their audience.  These workshops will culminate in a further concert at St. Bedes later this year working alongside other schools in the area.
