An exciting new term

Welcome back to a new term of exciting learning. It has been good to see the children settle in so well this week, happy to be back at school with their friends and teachers. We particularly welcome those children and their families who are new to St Matthew’s.

Welcome back, too, to our army of volunteer helpers who come into school, giving their time and abilities to read with the children, practise times tables and other number skills, help with art, sport, gardening, swimming, clubs.  The children and staff really do appreciate your help. If any other parents or grandparents would like to help in school please speak to your child’s teacher or contact the school office.

There are lots of exciting activities planned, in lessons and extra-curricular events, to brighten up the sometimes dark and dreary months of January and February! Although this term is a relatively short one there is still a lot  to do!

With today’s Headlines you should have received:

  • curriculum information leaflet, outlining what your child will be learning this term.
  • clubs list for this term. Clubs will start week beginning 21st January, apart from football which begins after school on Monday (14th). Thank you to staff who volunteer their own time to run these clubs for the children.
